Anyone annoyed that this doesn't provide an all stations Urgency or Securite DSC call should update to the latest firmware, these issues are all fixed. Used today on south eastern side of Anglesey, receiving Holyhead coastguard loud and clear, 15 miles away.

Very nice radio with a bunch of usefull features, at a reasonable price.

I did my VHF course and bought one of these, but being a Class H it actually doesn't have a lot of functionality that they teach you about in the course, even though the previous HX870 did, and most other DSC radios do, such as Urgency and Safety DSC sending. I feel like I should have got a cheaper, older model really. I can see no benefit to Class H. Ultimately though, I guess it still has the same chance of saving your neck in an emergency, and that's really what I bought it for!
