Let’s get straight to the point - this is what you can expect from the Ocean Signal rescueME EPIRB1:
An impressive 10-year battery life.
A 5-year warranty.
A remarkable 48+ hours of operational time.
It’s likely that you don’t wish to ever have to use an emergency beacon, however, it makes a huge amount of sense to plan for the worst. Having an EPIRB on board such as the new Ocean Signal rescueME EPIRB1 will offer you a huge peace of mind when out on the open ocean. Should the worst come to the worst, the rescueME EPIRB1 has a fast accurate positioning with 66 channel GPS, plus a quick-release bracket for prompt removal.
A simple protective tab over the operating keys prevents inadvertent activation, yet allows for easy operation when required. The rescueME EPIRB1 also features two high brightness strobes to maximise visibility in low light conditions.
The rescueME EPIRB1 is 30% smaller than other models on the market meaning you can place it in your grab bag with ease.
Other features
Retractable antenna.
Auto-activates on immersion.
Homing beacon (121.5MHz) to aid final location by search and rescue craft.
Obviously impossible to rate fully until used - and I hope that never happens! The makers were very helpful before I bought it, confirming the battery disposition is within the allowed limits for hold baggage on EasyJet. It is lightweight and easy to fit (mounted inside, not on deck). If you pull out the metal tape aerial for inspection, don't try to push it back as it may buckle- read the instructions and use the rewind handle.
